GIACOMO

IGT Toscana Rosso

This wine commemorates Ilaria Tachis’ father, Giacomo Tachis, who contributed untold and immeasurable wisdom and experience to the Italian wine sector during a career that spanned over 50 years and reached virtually every region in Italy.
Ilaria chose the grapes that would be used to make this wine, a love song for her babbo, a great man who shared so much of himself with winemakers all over the country.

Wine made from 100% Merlot grapes, carefully hand selected from the Pargolo vineyard and the Casa Rossa vineyard, one of the loveliest and most well located slopes of the winery. The vines are currently on average 15 years old and producing at their best. The simplicity of this wine is elegant and distinctive. With grapes carefully cultivated in the Chianti Classico area of Tuscany, the wine reveals particularly Mediterranean organoleptic characteristics.

Vinified in 25 hl cement vats with a maturation of 30 days. Following racking, the wine rests in cement for a further 9 months. Ageing takes place in new French oak barriques for ten months, with the final and crucial refinement in glass. Bottled in April 2018 after a very light filtration.

The wine has a brilliant ruby red color with an alcohol content of 14.5%. On the nose, the wine presents sweet notes of wild berries, red plums, forest floor and mint. A gentle hint of minerals and warm spices combine with the fruit to create a harmonious and seductive bouquet. In the mouth, the feel is silky smooth with mature tannins, accentuated by exceptional minerality and a long, luscious persistence. This is a highly refined wine, born of a timeless terroir, which pairs well with meaty dishes, particularly roasted veal and mushrooms.
