This is the 9th vintage of our first wine. The name of the wine commemorates the birth of our first child and our new vineyard. As our family and our estate both continue to grow, we look forward to the continued appreciation of this small production wine, so representative of our story at Podere La Villa.
Wine made from a blend of Sangiovese and Merlot grapes, at 85% and 15% respectively. Vinified in 25 hl cement vats, with maceration of the Merlot taking place in cement and the Sangiovese in stainless steel. The wine is then aged in second and third passage French oak barriques for 9 months. A final refinement in glass is fundamental to the wine’s character. The wine was bottled in April 2018.
The color is a bright ruby red with an alcohol content of 14.5%. On the nose there is a floral symphony of rose and violet, together with notes of wild red fruits, sandalwood and cypress berries. On the palate, the wine reveals its true Chianti heritage, full of delicious black cherry flavor, lively sapidity and a well balanced minerality, with a satisfying long finish. Perfect for pairing with meat dishes, such as stuffed goose or veal, as well as a delicious accompaniment for traditional Tuscan dried meats and cheeses. Enjoyable drinking for 5 years.
